“What is Love? “

Rabbi Eiran Davies explores the concept of love through Jewish texts, offering insights into how love has been understood and interpreted in the Jewish tradition.

Eiran Davies is a rabbi with roots in London, England. He has studied at Montefiori endowment in London, Midrash sepharadi in Jerusalem and Yeshivat hamivtar in Efrat. He is also an artist, beekeeper and trained goldsmith.

“A Singing Workshop: Love Songs from the Middle East” 

Come along and sing together songs from Jewish communities from East and West, in Hebrew and Ladino. Daphna is a singer and a sought-after workshop leader, specializing in traditional vocal genres. Her workshops are open to all, and combine fun with guidance for good singing.  

Kom och sjung tillsammans sånger från judiska grupper från öst och väst, på hebreiska, and ladino. Daphna är sångare och en eftertraktad workshopledare, specialiserad på traditionella vokalgenrer.  Hennes workshops är öppna för alla och kombinerar glädje med tips för bra sång.

“Film Screening: Golden Eighties”

Chantal Akerman's Golden Eighties is a vibrant musical that blends exuberant song and dance with her distinctive feminist and cinematic vision. Set in the consumerist world of a shopping mall, the film follows a group of shop employees as they navigate love, heartbreak, misunderstandings, and reconciliation through a series of imaginative musical numbers.

Beneath its colourful surface, the film offers a moving reflection on memory, Jewish resilience, and the legacy of the Holocaust, balancing the pleasures of the musical genre with Akerman's characteristic emotional depth and formal innovation.

The screening will be introduced by Dr. Zoe Kelly Nacht, who holds a Ph.D. in Religious Thought from Boston University, an M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School, and a B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University. Dr. Kelly Nacht specializes in the intersections of religion, literature, and film.
